Christmas Blinkies

Christmas Blinkies

This is a set of projects that produces chains of blinking lights in an assortment of shapes. This can be used in a graphical way to mimic the apeparance of a Christmas tree or other lighting such as is commonly put up around that time of year. A short overview of the possibilities can be seen in the video.

Because it is fully editable, all parameters and the appearance can be changed to your needs, so it is suitable for other festive graphics like chains of flags, strings of pearls or any shape you can think of. Some of the setups even feature some fake pseudo-dynamics so they can sway in the wind. Please refer to the included PDF for some more info.

Welcome!

Welcome to my resources for After Effects, Cinema 4D and whatever I come up with and what you think might be useful. Please note that all the stuff provided here is meant for learning and experimentation. You may use it for commercial projects as well, but if you do so, do the decent thing and donate a few bucks. You can do so by clicking on the button below to make a donation.

PayPal - The safer, easier way to pay online!

Be aware that I cannot offer any form of guaranteed support if you can’t figure out things. You can ask me questions on forums or shoot me a mail, but accept that the stuff being free, you are not entitled to demand anything. Likewise, I reserve the right to withdraw, rework and modify stuff as I see fit. As they say "Availability may be subject to change.".

Note:Though some content may be listed, you will not find it for immediate download. This is due to bandwidth and file size constraints. You will also encounter situations, where only parts of the content are provided instantly or none at all. Such content can be made available and adapted to your needs, but this will need to be on a paid basis via different methods.

Force Field

Force Field

One more setup exploring and exploiting Trapcode Form 2‘s rotation maps, this produces a bipolar force field similar to a magnetic field. By duplicating the sub-comps constituting the maps, more fields can be added.

Blob Variations

Blobs

This is an exploration of the new features in Plexus 2. As announced earlier on my blog, here is the project file for your own experimentation.

Note that all effects are created using Plexus‘ primitives and linked to reference layers using expressions. Linking is based on the naming convention in the project, so layers not matching the pattern will not drive the primitives, but may still be used inside Plexus using the Layer Object for instance.

Star Struck

Star Struck

This is a design exploration with Element 3D as shown in the corresponding video. The elements were imported separately, then colorized and arranged. The primary intent was to create some interesting DOF and use this as a background for text.

The Cube

DNA

This project allows you to build cubic reflection maps (or generally a unfolded cube cross map) such as it could be useful for a number of 3D-ish effects like Shapeshifter or FreeForm Pro. The package contains two projects: One that contains a rigged "live" version, another for offline baking of maps if you don’t have any of these plug-ins and want to use the maps in conjunction with other tools. Within each project, there are two methods to produce the maps. One takes any normal footage and slices it up to produce a cube and retain unwarped projections while at the same time doing some dilation/expansion at the top and bottom to produce a ceiling and floor, the other method uses skybox images such as you can create them in 3D programs or by photographing multiple views from a tripod. Alignment of the maps can be controlled with some expressions as well.
